Hasan Arat was born in Adana in 1959 and graduated from Istanbul University School of Business.

Hasan Arat is vice chairman of the Board of Directors of Beymen Group; Turkey’s leading fashion retailer. He is board member of Fiba Group. The Group’s investments in the financial sector are in banking, leasing, factoring, insurance, NPL management and private equity fund and its nonfinancial investments are in aviation, retail, real estate, energy, ship building and port management.

He is the chairman of Novo Invest; and the founder and partner of Dome Capital.

Hasan Arat is the Member of the Board of Trustees at Ozyegin University.

Starting at 2011, he was the chairman of Istanbul 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games Bid Committee and he is currently vice president of TNOC - Turkish National Olympic Committee, and executive board member of EOC – European Olympic Committee, member of IOC Marketing Commission - International Olympic Committee, executive board member of World Athletics and EOC 2023 European Games Krakow and the Malopolska region of Poland Coordination Commission Chairman.

Hasan Arat was selected as the President of Besiktas Gymnastics Club in December 2023. His sports background also includes former vice president of BJK, former 2nd president of TBF - Turkish Basketball Federation and a five-year professional basketball career at BJK - Besiktas Gymnastic Club

He was the former president and a current member of the executive council and board of directors of IAF - International Apparel Federation, and was the president and still a member of TGSD – Turkish Clothing Manufacturing Association. He was the vice president of Tourism Assembly of TOBB - The Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey.

He is founder of three educational foundations; The Educational Volunteers Foundation of Turkey (TEGV), Defne Muhtar Kent Education Foundation, Basketball Solidarity and Education Foundation (BIDEV).
